Altering OVD in Fixed Prosthodontics: When, Why, and How
COURSE OVERVIEW
This course explores the biologic, functional, and esthetic principles governing alteration of the occlusal vertical dimension (OVD) in fixed prosthodontics. Emphasis is placed on evidence-based diagnosis, risk assessment, and systematic treatment planning for patients requiring full mouth reconstruction. Participants will learn when alteration of OVD is indicated, how much change can be safely introduced, and how to implement these changes predictably using contemporary prosthodontic techniques.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of this course, attendees should be able to:
■ Diagnose indications for altering OVD in patients requiring full mouth reconstruction by integrating clinical findings, esthetics, function, and occlusal stability
■ Develop a systematic and biologically sound approach to increasing or maintaining OVD using reversible modalities, provisional restorations, and occlusal verification techniques
■ Implement a predictable restorative workflow that transfers the validated OVD from provisional to definitive fixed prostheses while minimizing risk to the temporomandibular joints, musculature, and supporting structures
